James Wadsworth diaries and account books, 1847-1900.

Diaries (21 vols., 1851, 1880-1900) of Wadsworth, a partner in the Chicago (Ill.) real estate firm of Hodges, Gould & Wadsworth and a resident of Woodlawn Park (Ill.), which became the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago when it was annexed to the city. The collection also includes two personal account books, 1847-1856. The diaries briefly note associates encountered, use of local transportation, particularly the Illinois Central Railroad, real estate transactions, church activities, and the founding of the first Presbyterian Church in Woodlawn Park (founded 1885), which eventually merged with the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago.
